Welcome!

Welcome to PBU’s School of Arts and Sciences! It has been said that "an expert is a person who knows more and more about less and less until he knows everything about nothing." This is obviously an exaggeration, but it does point out the danger of excessive specialization in one field.

StudyingPBU is a professionally-oriented university. Here we have many specializations from which you may choose. But we make it a point not to train mere technicians and specialists; we recognize the importance of building life and service on a broad base of knowledge. As a building on a narrow foundation cannot rise very high, so a career built on a narrow educational base is limited in effectiveness.

This is why we have a School of Arts and Sciences. While we do not offer programs of our own, we make the programs of all the professional schools more effective. Our core curriculum of 48 credits is designed to do several things. One is to help you develop skills and disciplines that will enable you to be a credit to Christ in any calling. Another is to introduce you to a breadth of subjects that will expand your mental and cultural horizons and stretch your ability to reason. We believe your lifelong effectiveness will be due to not only what you know and are able to do but also what kind of person you are.

Most importantly, we seek to cultivate the habit of integrating general knowledge with the scriptural truths you receive in your Bible and doctrine courses. In short, we try to help you to think and act Christianly in every area of life.

Skills, discovery, discernment, balance, integration, character–these are passions and hallmarks of the School of Arts and Sciences. Come and join us in our quest!

Jean MintoSincerely in Christ,
Jean Minto
