The Teacher
Education programs at PBU exist to prepare reflective
and highly skilled men and women of academic excellence
and Christian character for the teaching profession.
-
The program provides thorough preparation
for teaching in public, Christian, and other private
and international schools.
-
The program emphasizes a broad yet organized and sequenced
body of general and subject-specific knowledge that
forms the subject matter to be taught.
- The total curriculum for teacher education is designed
to develop critical and creative thinking, a thirst
for knowledge, a desire to know truth, a passion for
intellectual coherency, and the disposition to engage
and excite learners toward these intellectual ends.
- The Teacher Education curriculum is designed to
thoroughly prepare the candidate to promote learning
in diverse student populations in the Commonwealth
of PA and around the world.
- The program is performance-based, requiring measured
effectiveness and competence in the content and delivery
of the curriculum, in human relations, and in professionalism
in an authentic setting: the school.
- The overall candidate preparation is enhanced as
the beliefs and values inherent in a Christian worldview,
especially the “love of God and love of one’s
neighbor,” are taught through biblical studies
and integrated throughout the university life and
curriculum.
- Character development is at the heart of a PBU
education across all University schools and is of
utmost importance in the field of education.
