Kandern, Germany Program

GlobesAbout the Kandern Program...

The School of Education at Philadelphia Biblical University offers a Master of Science in Education degree--with an International Education concentration--in Kandern, Germany.  This program is designed specifically to meet the needs of international and national English-speaking educators desiring to pursue a Master's degree in education.    The Kandern program offers summer courses in a three-year cycle. Credits earned at the Kandern extension may be combined with credits earned at PBU's Langhorne Manor or Bangkok, Thailand campuses.

The host site is the Black Forest Academy in Kandern, Germany.  It is located in the southwestern corner of Germany's Black Forest region and is approximately twenty miles north of Basel, Switzerland.  An international airport and train station in Basel allow for convenient travel to Kandern.  Transportation is available from Basel to Kandern through PBU

Why Me?

The Master of Science in Education with a concentration in International Education provides an excellent opportunity for international and national English-speaking educators to earn a graduate degree (fully accredited) by attending classes at the Kandern, Germany campus.  You can earn your Master's degree in three years  by attending classes in the summer only.  If you are a part of the European community (or if you'd like to be) and want to pursue a Master's degree, this program is for you.

Housing Information

Sonne Gasthaus and Restaurant is located in the town of Kandern, Germany, approximately a ten- minute walk from Black Forest Academy. All of the rooms have a bathroom located en suite. Each room also has a telephone. Linens are provided, however please bring your own soap. A beautiful Olympic community pool and recreation area is located within a ten-minute walk from your room. Housing reservations can be made here by filling out our  Kandern Housing Reservation form. The rates at the Sonne are reasonable. Contact the Graduate Education enrollment counselor at msed@pbu.edu or 800.572.2472 for current rates. Additional housing opportunities are available through local house rentals of Black Forest Academy faculty.

The grocery stores, banks, post office, pharmacy, cafes and restaurants are all in town five to ten minutes away. Specific information will be given during Student Orientation.

Transportation fee to/from Basel airport or train station: $50/person
