Committed to the
Professional Development
of Worldwide Christian Educators |
The Master of Science in Education Degree Program has been strategically designed to prepare educators
to structure quality learning experiences for students in
an environment that fosters the development of the whole person.
The curriculum allows students from a variety of educational
backgrounds to benefit from graduate level experiences. It
provides opportunity for career-change persons to earn
the credentials needed to enter the teaching profession through
the University's certification programs.
Students who already hold teaching certificates may take electives that form a specialization in: Curriculum and Instruction, Educational
Leadership, Special Education, International Education, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and Bible Education. They may also
take elective courses in a cross-disciplinary
design to meet their individual needs or interests. If a student is seeking certification, he or she will follow a prescribed course in place of electives.
Courses in the Education Program are offered on a rotating
basis. A roster listing the courses that are available
each semester is published prior to the beginning of
the semester and is available on the web site. You may
access them now here.
Conveniently scheduled courses allow individuals the opportunity
to gain the additional credits needed to complete a graduate
program or certification while continuing to work. Students who have not completed 12 credits of Bible from
a regionally accredited Christian liberal arts college or university,
Bible college or seminary at the graduate or undergraduate
level are required to take Bible courses at Philadelphia
Biblical University. These Bible courses are not a prerequisite
for enrollment in the education courses and may be taken concurrently.
PBU is an Act 48 provider. Any of the education courses may be used to fulfill this state requirement. Instructional I Pennsylvania state certification and Standard-level
ACSI certification are available through the School of Education programs at Philadelphia Biblical University. One can work toward a teaching certificate and complete
the masters at the same time. The chart below indicates
areas and types of certification offered at PBU.
