The goal of the Educational Leadership and Administration Degree Program at PBU is to prepare men and women, 1) to effectively cultivate the culture and climate necessary to produce a dynamic learning community; 2) to professionally develop other educators to use their gifts in instructional events; 3) to serve as positive change agents in the community; and above all, 4) to develop the characteristics and skills of a highly effective servant-leader.
PBU seeks to provide a model of leadership that enables the graduate to face the challenges of today’s complex educational setting with a strong knowledge base, practical implementations of knowledge and skills, and effective human relations. The model of leadership developed at PBU is one of servant-leadership, a distinctively biblical model. The knowledge base and applications of best practices for today’s school leaders are integrated with a Christian worldview.
Students of this program will have the opportunity to practice what they are learning through an action research project in which they research an intervention into their own organization and implement positive change. Those seeking principalship credentials will have ample opportunity for developing skills and practicing leadership in a supervised internship with a seasoned administrator. |
