- Born March 11, 1953 in Dayton, OH of German Baptist Brethren background
- Raised in Christian home and trusted Christ at age nine
- In sophomore year of high school, dedicated life to vocational Christian service and have been following that ever since
- Married to Cheryl Ann Shipley since June 4, 1977; Have three children by adoption - Charis, Matt and Brian
- Attend Crossing Community Church in Newtown, PA
