Q:
What type of College program is this?
|
A:
WWC is an extension campus of Philadelphia Biblical
University. The program and location in the northwoods
of Wisconsin offer an exciting educational alternative
to a traditional college experience. WWC is a
college program where personal discipleship and
character development take place in a small educational
environment. A high degree of learning opportunities
are created to guide and challenge students in
their personal growth.
|
Q:
Is this primarily a discipleship program?
|
A:
WWC is primarily an academic program. However,
its mission and limited enrollment allow personal
growth to be the heart of the program without
compromising academic integrity. Many colleges
genuinely strive for a balance of mind and heart,
but at WWC it happens to a higher degree. Although
WWC is an extension campus of PBU, it is also
a ministry of PBU.
|
Q:
Is this an accredited program?
|
A:
As an extension campus of Philadelphia Biblical
University, WWC is accredited
by the Middle States Association of Colleges and
Schools and the Accrediting Association of Bible
Colleges. PBU has been in existence since 1913,
placing it among the earliest Bible schools in
America.
|
Q:
How many college credits are offered?
|
A: The year is comprised of 24 credits of Bible and
Bible-related classes and 8 credits of Arts and
Sciences for a total of 32 college credits.
|
Q:
What is the academic structure?
|
A:
WWC offers two 15-week academic semesters. The
academic structure is based on a modular design
or a "one course at a time" approach
versus the traditional four or five courses at
a time. Each three-credit course is divided into
three 1-week teaching modules. Each week of classes
(13-15 hours) is equivalent to one-third of a
semester course. The student also takes three
additional hours per week in a continuing semester
course. The resultant class hours per week (16-18
hours) are the equivalent of a normal full-time
college load. Visiting faculty teach the modular
courses and resident faculty teach the semester
courses.
|
Q:
Where do students go after they have completed
the WWC program?
|
A:
Almost 80% of the students use the program
as a significant part of their college plans.
Approximately 40% continue at the main campus
in Langhorne, PA, and 40% continue in Christian
liberal arts, Bible or secular colleges. More
than 70% of alumni have graduated from college.
Another 30% of students benefit from the one-year
program and then enter the secular work place
or vocational ministry.
|
Q:
Are the credits transferable?
|
A:
WWC credits are transferable to academic programs
at colleges and universities throughout the nation.
The number of credits accepted depends on the
college and major chosen. Generally all credits
are transferrable but not all credits apply to
a specific major. Many Bible courses fulfill core
requirements at Bible and Christian colleges and
apply as electives at secular colleges. The Arts
and Sciences courses also transfer as comparable
science, humanities and physical education courses.
|
Q:
Why should I choose to invest a year of my life
at WWC?
|
A:
Academic excellence, credibility and transferability
of credits are very important at WWC, but that
is not the heart of the program. The heart of
WWC is "your heart." One can simply
not compare things like credit transferability
with genuine life change. If you are searching
for a college program where you get a high degree
of life-related learning opportunities in and
out of the classroom, or if you desire a college
experience where God-centered personal growth
is your goal, or if you are looking for a college
atmosphere with abundant recreational opportunities
filled with a lot of fun--then you may want WWC!
