The goal of academics at WWC is not only that students master content areas, but that they formulate a biblical world view and begin to integrate this mindset into all areas of life. At WWC, the process of student intellectual and spiritual development emphasizes connecting what a student learns inside the classroom to how he or she lives outside the classroom.

StudentsAt WWC, students encounter learning in a small group atmosphere, where student interaction with other students and professors is the norm. Within the WWC community, the faculty make it their goal to be available to aid, nurture, and guide students in their academic and spiritual pursuits. At WWC, we view all areas of life as learning opportunities. Therefore, the entire program becomes our extended classroom, and academic life is not simply a part of the program, but is integrally related to all aspects of the program. The combination of classroom learning, personal discipleship, and day to day living experiences within a small-group atmosphere offers the student a higher degree of education.

Curriculum Philosophy

WWC offers 32 credits of study. Twenty-four credits are Bible and Bible-related courses. Eight credits are Arts and Sciences courses related to Christian worldview, environmental science, physical fitness, and recreation.

A unique feature of the program is the use of highly qualified visiting faculty for one-week teaching modules. Each three-credit course is divided into three one-week teaching modules. Each week of 13-15 hours is equivalent to one-third of a (semester-long) course. The student also takes three additional hours per week in a continuing semester course taught by the campus director. The resultant class hours per week (totaling 16-18 hours) are the equivalent of a normal full-time college load.

Course Descriptions

Bi101 O.T. HISTORY I, First semester; 3 credits
A study of the historical books of the Old Testament (Genesis-Joshua) with emphasis on God's redemptive plan, His dealings with Israel, legitimate types, and personal applications. For an historical perspective, special attention is given to Mesopotamian and Egyptian history.

Bi102 O.T. HISTORY II, Second semester; 3 credits
A continuation of O.T. History I (Judges-Esther). Biblical geography and basic archaeology are included.

In ClassBi103 BIBLICAL INTRODUCTION, First semester; 3 credits
A survey of the principles and practice of independent Bible study including an emphasis on grammatical-historical interpretation of the Bible. A basic survey of the Bible is included.

Bi108 THE FOUR GOSPELS, First semester; 3 credits
An exposition of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

Bi201 O.T. POETIC BOOKS, Second semester; 3 credits
An expository study of Job, selected Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon and Lamentations, emphasizing the genius of Hebrew poetry and the doctrinal depth and spiritual value of these books.

Bi404 GENERAL EPISTLES, First semester; 3 credits
An exposition of Hebrews, James, and the Petrine epistles, the Johannine epistles and Jude.

Cm104 PRINCIPLES OF CHRISTIAN GROWTH, Second semester; 3 credits
A study of a variety of principles that help the Christian develop skills for a positive and effective inner and interpersonal life. Emphasis is also given to evangelism lifestyle and training.

Do152 DOCTRINE I, Second semester; 3 credits
A study of the formation of the Bible text and its teachings concerning the nature and authority of Scripture, the nature and attributes of God, the person of Christ, the person of the Holy Spirit, the nature and activity of angels, and the nature of man.

Hu131 CHRISTIANITY AND CONTEMPORARY CULTURE, Second semester; 3 credits
A study and critique of contemporary culture from a biblical and philosophical perspective. Prominent emphasis on contemporary life are examined within a biblical framework, and strategies for individual and social change are introduced.

Pe131 PHYSICAL FITNESS, First semester; 1 credit
A course emphasizing the development of a personal cardiovascular endurance fitness program designed by the student. The following topics are discussed: stress management, weight management, cardiovascular disease, effects of inactivity on the body, development of strength and flexibility, muscularskeletal disorders and the use and misuse of drugs in our society.

Pe321 CROSS COUNTRY SKIING, Second semester; 1 credit
Basic instruction in cross-country ski techniques and selected outdoor recreational skills. The student will develop a personal cross-country ski training program and participate in selected winter activities.

Sc135 ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE, First semester; 3 credits
An introductory course that explores the nature and functions of the earth's ecosystems and seeks to use the science of ecology as a basis for examining the role and impact of homo sapiens in the ecosphere. It includes instruction in the history, terminology, and methods of environmental science and explores the role of Christians in environmental stewardship. Field trips are included.
