Head Coach: Brett Nelson
Brett Nelson enters his second season as the Men’s Golf Coach at Philadelphia Biblical University. Nelson is an alumnus of PBU as he graduated in December of 2005 with degrees in Health and Physical Education and Bible.
Coach Nelson is one of the main reasons there is a golf program at PBU, as he first inquired about starting a golf program as a student in the fall of 2003. He competed for the team for the next three years. Nelson was relied on heavily during his playing career as the # 1 ranked golfer on the team. He earned 2nd team All NEAC as a senior and competed in the NCCAA National Tournament two times.
PBU golfers have the opportunity to compete in the North Eastern Athletic Conference, which is part of the NCAA Division III. They also compete against very competitive non-conference opponents mostly in the Philadelphia area as well as competing annually in the NCCAA National Tournament.
Nelson is currently employed by Radnor Valley as an Assistant Golf Professional. He hopes to work his way up in the golf industry and eventually become a teaching professional. His goals for the program include providing continued organization and structure while giving players plenty of opportunities to improve their games through practice rounds and use of driving ranges.
Nelson views participation on the golf team as an opportunity to extend a player’s education outside of the classroom as well as an opportunity to represent God and PBU in a positive way. He comments, “As part of the golf team, players will learn valuable lessons such as how to handle pressure, how to be a valuable team member, how to set and achieve personal goals.”
Coach Nelson resides in Churchville, PA and can be reached at golf@pbu.edu. |
