Season Review
Fall 2007 Season

Men's SoccerThe beginning of the 2007 men’s soccer season didn’t necessarily quite pan out as many had hoped. Ranked number 32 in the country by D3Kicks.com to enter the season, the Crimson Eagles struggled early through the first six games of the year, compiling a 3-3-1 record during that tenure.

However, the team quickly began to turn things around and by early October found themselves in the middle of a five game winning streak. A 1-0 loss to FDU-Florham in a non-conference matchup was the only setback the team would experience over a 14 game span that included wins over Rutgers Camden, Moravian, and Keuka. The Crimson Eagles managed to quietly put together a 12-4-2 overall record heading into postseason play, and their 6-1-1 record during NEAC competition earned the team their second consecutive regular season conference title.

In NEAC postseason play, PBU upended Penn State Harrisburg in the first round for the right to take on Keuka College in the conference championship. In PBU’s final home game of the year, the Storm upset the number one seeded Crimson Eagles 2-1 to steal the NEAC title on PBU’s home field. It would mark the only loss the Crimson Eagles would experience in Langhorne as the team compiled an 11-1-0 record at home for the year.

After capturing their third straight NCCAA II East Regional Title with a 3-0 victory over Lancaster Bible College, the Crimson Eagles received an automatic birth to the NCCAA National Tournament as the number three seed. A 1-0 overtime win against Providence College pitted the Crimson Eagles against Southeastern College, a team that secured their first ever NCCAA Championship with a 1-0 victory over PBU in last season’s title game. Unfortunately Southeastern once again got the better end of PBU as the Fire walked away with a 3-2 victory to end PBU’s hopes of returning to the title game.

The 2007 men’s soccer team finished the season with an overall record of 17-6-2. Along the way the Crimson Eagles secured their third straight NCCAA East Regional Title and also won their second straight regular season NEAC Title.

Additionally, several players gained national recognition for their efforts on the year. The Crimson Eagles placed two members on the NCCAA II All American First Team and two on the Second Team in addition to two upperclassmen generating NCCAA Scholar Athlete status. Six different players were named to the NEAC All Conference Teams, and senior captain Derek Mosely was awarded player of the year in the NEAC as well as Player of the Year for the NCCAA II East Region. Head coach Tom Fink, in his 25th season with the Crimson Eagles, was nominated as Coach of the Year in both the NEAC and the NCCAA II East Region.

Congratulations to the 2007 men’s soccer team for their tremendous season!
