Season Review
Fall 2006 Season

The Women's Volleyball Team recently finished their 2006 season.  Some highlights of the season included the Crimson Eagles starting their season by attending the Adelphi Tournament in Long Island, New York facing all NCAA Division II institutions.  Although not winning any matches they played the tougher teams tough. That was seen consistently throughout this season. Seniors Heather Lowe and Jessica Newlin were named to the All-Tournament Team.  Another highlight was when PBU faced 2005 NEAC Champions, Baptist Bible College in a home opener early on and defeated the Defenders in a 5 game match.  Senior Jess Newlin had a career high 20 kills and Heather Lowe added to the offense with 14 kills and defensively with 22 digs.

VolleyballPBU played consistently throughout the season only to face a few nagging injuries that created some adversity.  Through the adversity, the Crimson Eagles were not easily defeated.  With senior captains Heather Lowe and Jessica Newlin leading the charge, the Crimson Eagles battled to the top to play for 1st place in the NCCAA II Regional Finals against Baptist Bible College.  PBU fell to the Defenders to take 2nd place.  Senior Heather Lowe and Freshman Betsy Ranck were named NCCAA II 1st  Team All-Region. Senior Jessica Newlin and Junior Natalie Nolt were named to the NCCAA II 2nd Team All-Region and Becky Williams was named NCCAA II All-Region Honorable Mention.

PBU also participated in the NCAA III North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) playoffs.  The Crimson Eagles fell to D'Youville College in the first round.  Senior Heather Lowe and freshman Betsy Ranck were named NEAC 1st Team All-Conference.  Senior Jessica Newlin was named NEAC 2nd Team All-Conference.

To  finish the season, the Crimson Eagles represented the East Region by attending the NCCAA II National Tournament for the first time in PBU's Volleyball history. PBU went in as a 5th seed and played in the toughest pool facing tournament runner-up Lincoln Christian College and National Champions Clearwater Christian College.  Other teams in the pool were North Central College and Kentucky Christian College.  The Crimson Eagles finished in the middle of the pack making their first appearance at the National Tournament a very positive one.  PBU closed out their season on a positive note by  winning the last match against Kentucky Christian College.  Senior Heather Lowe was named Honorable Mention All-American.  Players also recognized were Scholar Athletes, senior Jessica Newlin and juniors Becky Williams, Natalie Nolt and Angie Kresge.

The team graduates two seniors Heather Lowe and Jessica Newlin.  Returning to the squad next season are Natalie Nolt, Becky Williams, Angie Kresge, Betsy Ranck, Katy Kutzner, Meg Jasper and Kristin SchrumCoach Brubaker states, “I am looking forward to working with the returners as they have great athleticism and mental toughness, 2 things that will help us succeed next season.”
