Crime Prevention

Theft is the most frequently-reported crime on the Philadelphia Biblical University Campus and usually accounts for more than 90 percent of all reported criminal incidents. The majority of the thefts are of unattended personal property.

Personal Property

  • Lock the door and windows to your room when you leave, when you are sleeping, or are in the bathroom.
  • Engrave all valuable objects with a unique number such as your driver's license number.
  • Lock up your bicycle.
  • Use a lock on your gym locker
  • DO NOT LOAN or give your keys to anyone.
  • Do not leave your keys unattended, anywhere.
  • Do not leave books, bags, purses, wallets, or any other possessions unattended even for a moment.
  • Keep a written record of valuables, including descriptions and serial numbers. These are proof that the property is yours and will aid in the reporting process and recovery.

Reporting a Crime

The Office of Safety and Security is maintained 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All criminal incidents should be reported to the Office of Safety and Security for response and documentation. Incidents known in common parlance as Part I of crimes that are identified to the Office of Safety and Security are reported to the proper police department to ensure that all agencies charged with providing services are aware of these incidents. The relationship and exchange of information with township, state and federal authorities is extremely important.

To report a criminal incident, dial x4350 from a campus telephone, or from one of the emergency telephones located on the front of Stillman Dorm, Memorial Dorm or in the upper parking lots. If you are off campus, dial 215.702.4350. You can also report a criminal incident in person at the Office of Safety and Security.

To report a crime anonymously, you may either telephone the Office of Safety and Security without disclosing your name or fill out our online Crime Tip form.

Philadelphia Biblical University maintains a computerized database for all reported criminal incidents occurring on campus and those that occur in the surrounding neighborhood. This data isthe basis for crime statistics reported to the FBI Uniform Crime Reporting System, for compliance with the Crime Awareness and Campus security Act and the College and University Information Act and for reporting crime statistics to the Campus Community. Our annual report also includes data from non-police services, including victims and witnesses.

The Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act requires Philadelphia Biblical University to provide information on its security polices and procedures and specific statistics for criminal incidents and arrests to students and employees and to make the information and statistics available to prospective students and employees upon request. The Pennsylvania College and University Security Information Act requires Philadelphia Biblical University to provide information on its security policies and procedures to students, employees and applicants and to provide crime statistics to students and employees and to make these statistics available to applicants and prospective employees upon request. This information is available by calling the Office of Safety and Security at 215.702.4350 or located here on our site in the Campus Safety and Security and Alcohol/Drug Abuse Policy Manual.

The Office of Safety and Security maintains an Incident Journal, which is a chronological listing of all crimes reported to the Office of Safety and Security and is open for public inspection at the Carriage House.
