Chapel
Chapel at Philadelphia Biblical University exists to provide a central expression of our worship and identity as an academic community of believers with a deep commitment to Christ and the world.
Fall 2008 Chapel Schedule
Chapel Attendance
The University student body joins together Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the Chatlos Chapel. Several times a year there is an overflow facility (BL 210) opened for chapel as the demand for seating goes beyond available seating in the Chatlos Chapel.
- Attendance at chapel is required for all students with nine or more credit hours.
- Students are required to attend chapel regardless of their class schedule. A student may request a permanent exemption from chapel when their class schedule is limited to Tuesday/Thursday or when a permanent work responsibility keeps them from chapel. (Only those jobs that have at least a 4 hour morning commitment will be considered and on-campus work responsibilities will be limited to areas that must have students working during the chapel hour.)
- Chapel attendance is taken electronically. If you have a card issue, please report your attendance to the University Ministry Center after chapel on that day.
- Any student caught falsifying attendance will be placed on disciplinary probation.
- Students are expected to be in chapel on time and remain until the end of chapel. Three late arrivals will count as one absence.
Chapel Absence
As a central identity of the University, we desire to see every student make chapel a priority in their day. We recognize that situations, illness and activities preclude students from attending chapel and with that have provided the following guidelines for chapel absence:
- Students are provided nine absences for any reason of their choosing. We encourage students to choose wisely as this includes illness, athletic events, outside activities and personal needs.
- Individuals who take more than the allotted nine absences will have an equal number of absences reduced from the following semester and will pay a fine of $10 per chapel. In addition, the student may be asked to listen to recordings of the chapel and write a short response on each chapel they have missed above the allotted number of nine excused absences.
- Any student that goes over the allotted absences permitted in back to back semesters will face further action by the Office of Student Life.
