Questions & Answers

When can I move in?
Move-in for new resident students is Thursday, August 20, 2009 between 9am and 3pm. If you have any further questions about the move-in process, contact the Director of Resident Life, Mr. Stephen Hauser, at shauser@pbu.edu or call 215-702-4217.

Having FunWhen will I get full information about orientation?
The schedule for Weekend of Welcome is here on this site. Information has also been mailed to the mailing address we have for you, including the schedule and a list of local hotels. A folder containing various informational pieces will be distributed to students upon their arrival on campus.

Do I have to go to all of the orientation events?
All students are encouraged to attend the events listed in the schedule. There are a few times where resident students may have activities that others do not. A variety of non-mandatory events, including social programming, are extremely important to ease your adjustment to the PBU and Philadelphia communities. Once classes begin, you will not have this type of opportunity again to meet new people or to learn about the many resources available to you as a student.

How long should my family stay? What events can they attend?
On official move-in day, Thursday, August 20, families are encouraged to be alongside their student. We have a specific session for parents at 3pm on Thursday entitled “Parenting from Afar” as well as a community event on Thursday evening at 7pm. All activities after 7:45pm on Thursday, August 20 are for students only.

What hotel accommodations are available for my family during move-in?
See the list of local hotels here.

What should I bring with me to campus?
For this and more information about moving to PBU, see the What to Bring pages here, by residence hall. If you do not yet know your resident assignment, please contact the Director of Resident Life, Mr. Stephen Hauser, at shauser@pbu.edu or call 215.702.4217.

3 StudentsWhen is the best time to purchase books and where?
Although you may want to purchase your books during your free time throughout the Weekend of Welcome, it is sometimes better to wait until you receive your course syllabi. You can also check out the Follett Bookstore website to find out what books are needed for your classes.

When do classes begin?
Classes begin on Monday, August 24, at 8:00 AM.

How can I connect with someone to answer more questions that I have?
Contact the Office of Student Life by emailing studentlife@pbu.edu or calling 215.702.4213.
