Liberty Bell Replica
& Art Exhibit of Biblical Plants
on Display at Philadelphia Biblical University
Sept. 3, 2002 A full-size, 3,300 lb., “ringable”
replica of the Liberty Bell and 34 original watercolors of Biblical
flora will be on display, Saturday, October 5, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
at Philadelphia Biblical University (PBU) in Langhorne, PA.
The special exhibits are being featured to help kick-off the Fall
semester opening of PBU’s new Biblical Learning Center (BLC),
a 46,000 sq. ft., 19-room educational facility that features a museum
area and display cases throughout the building.
Liberty Bell Replica
The Liberty Bell is a project of the Bryn Mawr-based organization
The Providence Forum, a non-profit corporation that seeks
to raise awareness of the United States’ spiritual heritage.
The Bell was made at Whitechapel Foundry in England where the original
bell was cast. The replica has an etched crack, allowing it to ring
in the original tone. Also, it bears an inscription citing that
it was ordered in commemoration of 300 years of religious liberty
in America.
Biblical Flora Display
In addition to the Bell, an art exhibit of Biblical plants, flowers
and herbs will be on display. The 34 framed watercolors were created
by a group of five, Long-Island based artists known as “Art
Botanica.” Through the efforts of Ralph Calhoun, Executive
Director of the Bidernharn Museum & Gardens in Monroe, LA, the
artists’ paintings have been making their way to various locations
throughout the country.
Display Times
In general, the public is invited to view the Liberty Bell and
Biblical Flora Exhibit on Saturday, October 5, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.;
however, it may be possible to arrange other viewing times through
the office of PBU Public Relations at 215.702.4307.
