PBU Crisis Response Plan
March 17, 2003
Dear PBU Student,
I am writing to share with you that the University’s leadership
is aware that the United States government is concerned about the
safety of its citizens and their property. In response Philadelphia
Biblical University is diligent in doing everything it can to prepare
for any crisis or emergency our school may be confronted with in
the days ahead.
A plan is in place that will lead us in responding to any emergencies
that might affect the welfare of the University family. The leadership
in our Office of Safety and Security has guided both the President’s
and Provost’s Cabinets in the development of our “Crisis
Response Plan.”
In the event of an emergency, Philadelphia Biblical University
is prepared to house and feed students in a single, secure location
for several days, and longer if necessary. The staff members of
the Student Development Department, Office of Safety and Security,
Pioneer College Caterers, other administrators and staff will remain
on campus to supervise, coordinate and care for members of the University
family during an emergency.
Communication will be important during this time so please use
the multiple options that will provide up-to-date information. That
would be here on the University website along with the emergency
closing numbers, 215-702-4414, 215-702-4416, 215-702-4417 and 215-702-4419.
If this plan is enacted, students, faculty and staff should report
to the gymnasium located in the lower level of the Mason Activity
Center (MAC). In the event of an emergency, the MAC will become
the command and communications center for the University.
While the University has not received or been alerted to any specific
threats, we want to assure our community that we will remain vigilant
in maintaining security measures. PBU’s community should go
about its normal business and should check the University’s
homepage regularly for new bulletins. We have attempted to prepare
ourselves to do everything possible to provide for the well-being
of students and our entire University family. We request that you
share this information with your family in case they have any questions
about the emergency preparedness of the University.
Sincerely,

W. Sherrill Babb
President
