Dr. Donald MacCullough, Home With the Lord;
1939-2003
Dr. Donald L. MacCullough, Senior Vice President and Provost of
PBU, went home to be with the Lord on October 25, 2003, as a result
of complications related to cancer and surgery. He was 64 years
old.
Dr. MacCullough ministered at PBU for nearly 30 years as a faculty
member and in key academic and administrative roles. Most recently,
he helped establish and then served as Dean of the Graduate School.
The formation of PBU’s Graduate Program played an integral
role in the achievement of University status in 2000. President
Sherrill Babb noted, “His legacy is apparent throughout the
entire University.”
Dr. MacCullough’s life was spent in Christian ministry as
he served as pastor in three churches before entering the field
of higher Christian education. In addition to his years at PBU,
he served six years at Lancaster Bible College. During the last
15 years while working at the University, he
also served for short terms as interim pastor in nine churches,
guiding them through the process of calling/hiring a new pastor.
Dr. MacCullough will be greatly missed by all. Your prayers are
coveted and appreciated for his wife “Marti” (Dr. Martha
E. [Kilgore] ‘62) daughters Sheryl (‘85) and Debbie
(‘87) and other family members.
A public Memorial Service
was held on Saturday, November 1, 5:00
p.m. in the Chatlos
Chapel on PBU's campus.
PBU faculty, staff and students remembered the life and ministry
of Dr. MacCullough during Chapel at 10 a.m. on Friday, October
31.
