PBU Designated "All-Steinway" School
June 2004
This summer, the School of Music & Performing Arts purchased 23 new upright and Grand pianos from world-reknowned Steinway and Sons. This acquisition makes the University one of only two evangelical colleges or universities in the United States to be designated an “All-Steinway School.” The designation “All Steinway” indicates that approximately 90-95 percent of all pianos are Steinway.
Whether in faculty studios, practice rooms or the recital hall, the incomparable touch and sound of these pianos will allow both students and faculty to express the full range of artistic talent and emotion.
The “All Steinway” designation was official after an agreement was reached between PBU
and Jacobs Music, the only area representative for new and authentically restored Steinway and Yamaha pianos. Shown in the picture are Dean of the School of Music & Performing Arts
Dr. Paul Isensee, (front left); representatives of Jacobs Music; Provost Kevin Huggins
(back center) and Distinguished Professor of Music Dr. Samuel Hsu (front right).
