PBU Earns Ranking in U.S. News & World Report’s
“America’s Best Colleges”
August 2007
For the first time, Philadelphia Biblical University earned a ranking in the U.S. News & World Report annual publication, “America’s Best Colleges.” PBU was listed in the 3rd tier of the category “Best Universities–Master’s” for the northern region of the country. The “Best Universities-Master’s” category spotlights institutions who provide a full range of undergraduate and master’s programs but who offer few if any doctoral programs.
Rankings are based on “several key measures of quality” with the top three being for
peer assessment, graduation/retention rates and faculty resources. Others include student
selectivity, financial resources and alumni giving.
“I think the inclusion of PBU reflects our growth as an institution on a number of levels,” said Dr. W. Sherrill Babb, President. “First in our transition from college to university over the past seven years; and then in a number of specific ways such as programmatic diversity, faculty doctorates and an increase in students who are entering with higher SAT scores. PBU is grateful to the Lord for all that has been accomplished and for the recognition. Our faculty and staff are highly dedicated individuals who desire to utilize their gifts and knowledge to impact young lives for Christ and His Kingdom.”
