Shalom
from the Friends of Israel Institute of Jewish Studies!
We believe that the nation of Israel and the Jewish people
are central to God’s plan of salvation for the world
and that one cannot understand the Bible, the current world
situation or prophetic events correctly without a proper
recognition of Israel’s role in the purposes of God.
For instance, the Bible is a book written mainly by predominantly
Jewish authors to a predominantly Jewish audience, and
ultimately about a Jewish Messiah, Jesus Christ. We believe
that reading the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments,
from a Jewish perspective is the best way to truly understand
what God is teaching.
As far as current events, what day
passes without the situation in the Middle East or the
nation of Israel dominating the news? How do God’s
promises to Israel affect these events? How should Christians
relate to Jews who do not recognize Jesus as the Messiah?
These current issues, and many more, are discussed at IJS.
Prophetically, how does Israel fit into God’s plan
for the future? Since much of the Bible is prophecy, this
is a topic that we at IJS discuss thoroughly.
Join
with us as we learn to understand God and His Word better,
as well as to serve Him better in ministry to the
Jewish people and the world. IJS is a unique group of students,
all of whom have committed themselves to one year of intense
Bible study and to seeking God’s will for their lives.
The class consists of about thirty students, from ages
seventeen to seventy, from both Jewish and Gentile backgrounds.
Through the year the class grows closer to the Lord and
closer to each other.
If this sounds exciting and challenging to you, we would
love to have you come join us! If you are interested in
IJS and would like more information or would like to schedule
a visit, please contact the IJS
office at PBU.
In
Christ,
