Why Choose IJS?

Interested in studying the whole Bible in one-year from a Jewish perspective in a unique small class environment including a Bible Lands tour? If so, then the Friends of Israel Institute of Jewish Studies is for you!!

Career Opportunities

The IJS graduates who have earned Certificates in Jewish Studies are equipped to serve in a variety of Christian ministries. An IJS Certificate in Jewish Studies fulfills the requirement of many mission organizations for one year of Bible training. Since1987, IJS has graduated hundreds of students, many of whom now serve as pastors, missionaries, and teachers for various churches, missions and schools. IJS graduates serve as missionaries in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and Israel. Many use their time of study at IJS as a basis for further education. Our graduates are better able to instruct both Jews and Gentiles about God’s love for His people.

Ed and BillWhat You Will Learn

IJS graduates are equipped to expound the Scriptures in their historical and cultural context to multitude contemporary ministries. These include evangelistic settings, Bible studies, and teaching. While most IJS students use their IJS experience as a basis for further study, many graduates have gone from IJS to serve the Lord as missionaries, pastors, teachers, or to work with churches and mission organizations. Here are some specific skills that you will learn at IJS:

  • How to study and interpret the Bible in its historical and cultural context.
  • How to integrate God’s plan for Israel into daily life and ministry.
  • How to integrate and explain God’s progress of revelation and its distinctiveness concerning Israel and the Church.
  • How to engender relationships with Jewish and Gentile people in order to share God’s love for them through the gospel.
  • How to understand God’s plan of salvation in history, from Biblical times to the present, and even into the future.
  • How to be a true disciple of the Lord, ready and fit to do His will.
